SEO - the real free advertising

Although Adleaf supports free blog advertising, we have to admit that nothing is more free than being rank favorably in search engine ranking. Throwing money into online advertising only works well if your conversion ratio is good enough that the profit derive from the converted customer allows you to offset the advertising dollars spent to attract those who did not eventually convert. Therefore, we encourage every blogger and webmaster to think about how to get their website to rank favorably in search engines as a major aspect of marketing. They should also focus on the major search engines like Google and Yahoo first.

The golden rule to getting ranked favorably in search engines is to provide a truly valuable service or content on your website. When you do that, people will want to link to your website thus increasing inbound links to your site and increasing your pagerank. If you do not have a valuable service or interesting content, you can focus on all the other search engine optimization techniques but ultimately, people will leave your site fairly quickly.

Once you think that you are have compelling content or service, you want to then focus on some of the fundamentals. We will not bore you with the details since many articles have already being written on search engine optimizations.

Given that SEO is such an important aspect of a website traffic, we will be offering a new feature soon that provides analysis of keywords that were used to find your website as well as the major search engines that have been driving traffic to your site. So, stay tune.

Visitor IP Geographic Tracking

After some beta testing, we released the visitor IP location tracking feature. This feature allows members to track their visitors geographic location based on the IP address. However, not all IP addresses are mapped to known geographic locations.

This feature is a result of a mashup of Google Maps and the data information from various data sources on geographic ip information. Some IP addreses may not be accurately mapped due to ISP and IP changes. The IP information is obtained through people who help match their cities to their IP addresses and also doing a trace route on the IP address. However, overall this feature should give a good approximate geographic location of a website audience.

Web Analytics - Tracking referrals

To acquire traffic, nothing beats having a quality content and website. It is clear that the best way to acquire web traffic is to rank really high in Google and other search engines. This only comes about when webmasters or bloggers provide either compelling content or a compelling service, thus providing a reason for other web owners and bloggers to write about your site or provide a web link to you. Advertising only works so far unless you have an unlimited budget.

One of the important mission for Adleaf is to help website owners and bloggers increase web traffic to their site. To that end, we have begin beefing up our web analytics tools so that Adleaf members can start tracking their web traffic better. We started off with providing basic page view and click thru data. This week, we rolled out a referral tracker. This allows Adleaf members who have placed an Adleaf code to track where their visitors are coming from. By understanding traffic sources, they can have an idea of how their customers have been finding them, keywords that were used to find them, pages that have been linking to them, etc. With this information, we hope that bloggers and webmasters can design a better strategy in traffic acquisition. We plan to continue to add new features to our web analytics tools. So, stay tune!
