Went shopping on Sat. 8/7to the jewel store on Larkin AVE. IN ELGIN. many items were not on store shelves probably due to previous 3 day sale. admittedly this store is one of the smaller Jewel stores it would be nice to see full shelves. Some of the sale items were for the entire 7 days! - Thomas J Walczyk - posted 43 months ago
I WAS AT THE JEWEL IN WAUCONDA, ILLINOIS THIS MORNING AND AFTER READING THE AD FROM THE SUNDAY TRIBUNE, I FOUND THAT THERE WAS AN AD FOR A JENNIO-FROZEN TURKEY ON SALE, YOU BUY ONE AND GET ONE FREE, AFTER I GOT TO THE JEWEL IN WAUCONDA, I GOT SEVERAL THINGS AND STARTING LOOKING FOR THE TURKEYS...I FOUND NONE, WENT TO THE SERVICE DESK, SHE WAS VERY NICE AND CALLED BACK TO THE MEAT DEPARTMENT,,I WAS TO GO BACK TO THE MEAT DEPARTMENT AND HE WOULD GET THEM FROM THE BACK. WHEN I GOT BACK THERE, HE SAID HE MADE A MISTAKE AND HAD NONE UNTIL LATER TODAY OR TOMORROW. WELL, I FIND THAT UNEXCEPTABLE. SO THIS IS WHY I AM WRITING TO YOU. I GUESS I WOULD EXPECT THEM TO RUN OUT AT THE END OF A SALE, BUT NOT THE VERY FIRST DAY. THANK YOU FOR LISTEINING.

I was a bit surprised at the previous comments. The 2 Jewel-Oscos that service St Charles, Ill, must be the exception as they have always been extremely courteous and prompt. The bakery in the Jewel-Osco on the West side of St Charles has always "bent over backwards" to meet our birthday requests. Whenever either is sold out of a sale item, they have always written a ticket and honored the sale price when the item is available. The Jewel-Osco on the east side of towm is consistently clean, well stocked, and very friendly. - Lillian Kurata - posted 43 months ago

I frequently go to Jewel in Glendale Hts, Il I find the items marked two for one are to high in price. I also went to buy the two for one turkey breast but I am not paying $27.00. That is not a bargain in this economy. Today I came home with celery that is old. I have to take it back tomorrow. I have always favored Jewel; however they have got to expensive I try to go elsewhere. - Lorraine knapp - posted 43 months ago

Bought my meat and produce the other day at Jewel but came back today for a few items. Initially thought the Wed. new ad offer giving bonus cents off plus bonus Box Tops for Education was silly since you have to buy 10 select items. However, I found it was not hard to mix and match the 10; got good prices and bonus points for our school. A bit of a smart shopper challenge but worth the trip. - Adrienne Forstneger - posted 43 months ago

WE have been shopping at the Jewel in Streamwood for a lot of years, and seems like lately everytime we go there we get over charged on something Sunday Aug 15th went for a few things and they had the sweet corn for four for 1.00 with perfered card the girl rung me up and charged me $27.00 and minus $13.50 savings, I paid and before leaving I was thinking that was high for the things I got so I went over my receipt and seen I was over charged went to the service desk and told the man there and he looked at it and laughed and said something and gave me back $12.78, this has happened so many times we have to go over the receipt every time we shop there before we leave the store because and as always we are over charged on something, a lot of time the preferred card does'nt always work, it did not work on the corn that I bought even if she rung it up right I still would have paid 2.00 for the 4 corns instead of 1.00 thats how it showed on the receipt. There is to many other stores we can shop at here in Streamwood and Jewel will not be one of them again. I can't amagine how much money we have been cheated out of since we been shopping there and not checking our receipts and it is so hard to read those receipts anyway why can't they just ring up the sale price and forget all that savings.
Being over charged has happened so many times at this store, and it is close to my house but I will shop other places.
Something shoud be done about this but if not Thanks for listen to me anyway. - mabel hethcoat - posted 42 months ago

I intended to take your survey at www.jewel-oscolistens.com, but instead got this "comments" page. I suggest that Jewel-Osco have their customers call an 800 phone number to win a prize. That is what Walgreens does. You disappoinnted me. - nathan bernstein - posted 42 months ago
Ditto on what Nathan said put an 800 # on the receipt & say store # on receipt instead of a bunch of ####'s. - Mary Jean - posted 42 months ago
just a comment on pricing. let the buyer beware. What an outrageous price for red onions.$2.99 lb. I never would have purchased any, but it was 9:00pm.Sat night and my relative was visiting and sugtgested that we have breakfast at home on Sun. and have omelets. She ran back for the red onion, and threw it on the checkout counter and i paid .When i saw $1.79 for one onion, I was very angry. Ehat a terrible ripoff, since most places charge 79. 89 a lb. esther - esther - posted 42 months ago

I shop at Jewel on 6107 S Archer Ave. Chicago, IL for the
last 18 years the employees are great the only complaint I have is they are remodeling the store. I just wish that they would do the remodeling in the evening or whenever the store is the least busiest. The equipment, tools are very
loud and hard to get around with the shopping carts. I take several eldery people shopping and they complain about
the noise and trying to stay out of their way. Some people
who are setting the shelves also have been rude to some customers. They have not been rude to me, but I have heard
them be rude to other customers. I hope the remodeling will be done soon. Thank You.

Jewel keeps changing brand names and availability of certain brands of items I like, but when I go to get it again they no longer handle that brand.
Also, why is the bottom half of my receipt in Spanish? This is the United states Of America!! - Bill Wood - posted 42 months ago
Went to the Jewel in North Riverside today (8/22/10) because I had an ungodly taste for a 7-Layer salad. Usually they are ready made and out for the taking---but there was every kind of salad there BUT my 7-layer. CONNIE was working in the deli and was nice enuf to check in the back for me--no luck. She even re-checked the available stock (becuz God knows, I could very well have missed it). Finding none, she offered to make one up for me!!! I wanted to kiss her on the spot, but nowadays, I don't thin that would have been prudent. Anyway, I saw her walking around the store, collecting the itmes needed for the 7 layers. Did some additional shopping while she "cooked" for me. I cannot tell you how PLEASED and HAPPY I am with her attitude and basic "doing what's right". She's a godsend and the Jewel in North Riverside should treasure having her.
The salad looks so delicious and great---can't wait to sink my teeth into it!! Thanks, Connie, for being there and all your help. - Mary Ellen - posted 42 months ago

I have been shopping at Jewel for many years. It is alittle more expensive but the quality of food is usually worth it. However the produce this year has been poor. The onions and lettuce [romaine] especially. I will continue to shop at Jewel because of their service and overall quality. Thank you - Janice Hickman - posted 42 months ago
Shopping at Jewel is like going on a tour of different products - each aisle has a product that is new for me and I love to try new products, and Jewel carries some products that I like that other stores do not carry. The check out employees I never had one that was crabby I always asked them if they take happy pills if I am in a bad mood. If I can't find something someone is always willing to help me. Some prices are a little high but you get what you pay for
I am a forever customer have been for many years.

I have shopped at the Jewel at Irving and Cicero for many years. Over the past year and a half i saw many chnges, not for the good. i attributed this to a change in store management. It has become very apparent, that is not the case. The problem stems at a higher levl of management. I am an early shopper and arrive at this location normally arounf 6:30a.m. on weekends. The store is unprepared for early shoppers. Produce, meats and shelves in general are unstocked. When you are able to locate staff, as they are very minimal at all times of day, the staff is very pleasant, ppolite and accomodating. I agree with other commentors regarding the lack of sale product, even on first day of sale. I have also noticed that numerous items I bought on a weekly basis are no longer available. I can understand cutting back on numerous brands of same item, but complete product basis have been eliminated. I can only suggest that Jewel may want to follow the lead of who is to become their biggest competitor. Although many of their stores are closed overnight, they use this opportunity to stock shelves so that early birds such as myself recive more instead less, as Jewel is presently doing. Althiough my family does not agree with the competitors politics, and have not shopped their for that very reason, I am not going to pay a premium for less. - Linda Z - posted 41 months ago
