We shopped in Hereford B@Q for wallpaper and Gill was most helpful. She went out of her way to check if there were sufficient rolls in the store and then ordered them for us and gave us clear indications when they might be available. She suggested that we might look at paints while we were there because they are on special offer. She was very busy but gave us all the time we needed. When we got to the till Joe was equally friendly and helpful explaining what she was doing and how the bill was calculated with the discount. It was a pleasure to shop, thank you. - Maurice and Brenda Coleman - posted 36 months ago

Visited the Bury Heap Bridge Superstore (Bya614) yesterday, 24/11/10, to purchase bathroom furniture. As these items were very heavy to lift a young man called Shaun together with a colleague, whose name we unfortunately did not get, quickly voluntered their help. Nothing was too much trouble for them; they are a credit to B & Q.
It is because of people like them that we regularly shop at your store. Rick McGill. - Rick McGill - posted 36 months ago

RYL662 I HAVE JUST HAD A NEW KNEE SO MY MOBILITY WAS POOR.
A LOVELY LADY NAMED SHARON WAS VERY HELPFUL TO ME. I HAD PURCHASED HEAVY BITUMEN PAINT BUT SHE DID ALL THE LIFTING FOR ME AND MADE MY SHOPPING A PLEASANT, VERY UNLIKE MANY STORES WHERE THE ASSISTANTS I HAVE SOMETIMES EXPERIENCED ARE UNHELPFUL AND IT IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE TO EVEN TRY TO BE HELPFUL.
GOOD FOR SHARON; CIVILITY, HELPFULNESS AND SMILES COST NOTHING BUT MEAN A LOT TO US PENSIONERS. - MARGARET CATHERALL - posted 36 months ago

I bought a vinyl flooring on tuesday 14 December. A very dedicated and helpfull young men called Andy A. helped me and worked out for me the exact mesaure from feet to sq metres. Jeena was called to cut the flooring as Andy was not trained to cut it. I remember very well Andy telling Jeena the exact mesaure i needed as he asked me again before it was cut. However for some how the cut i was given was a lot more than i needed and Jeena failed to take her responsability for the mistake made by blaiming Andy. I thought this was wrong and very unfair for Andy particularly because Andy did all it takes to make a customer happy for the visit at your store and this does not happen often at your store. He definately was spot on. I have stopped using your store in the past and used Homebase instead as your store in Enfield is pathetic. I have had an experience in your store back in May 2009 that if i would have the time i would have to take B&Q to court due to your staff bein incompetent with an attitude and extremely unhelpfull and all this with reference to the order No.:36203994 and 71638993. And it was pleasent to see a person like Andy being dedicated and caring at his job. - gaetano - posted 34 months ago

Great experience at the Exeter (sowton) store. Wanting advise and to buy a laminate floor. The 'expert' Mike McCusker knew his stuff, saved me from overbuying, offered several money saving tips, offered to help me load up and gave me really good advice and self confidence I had the right product for the job. The service which B&Q offers by employing semi-retired tradesmen willing to pass on experience gained over years is a win - win -win (for customer, for ex-tradesmen for the company). Smart move! - Alan Worthington - posted 32 months ago

Went to B&Q at Castle Vale Birmingham. Only problem was that there were no prices on some of the items we wanted to buy. This meant finding a member of staff to ask to find out. This happened a couple of times. These were not small items stuck on a shelf, but large displays of compost.
Luckily we were able to find a someone quickly. Otherwise we would have been fed up and thought twice about going back. Also paying 5p for a small plastic bag which does not hold much is a bit mean. - cathie - posted 29 months ago
Shopping at B&Q is always an enjoyable experience - the staff are most helpful, the products are competitively priced and there are always really good bargains at the Farnborough branch. The displays are very professionally made, full of ideas and sensibly designed, but what a shame that there are not enough manned 'Check-outs'. We older people prefer these - we are used to them. It is noticeable that even the younger ones get confused at the Pay Yourself Hi Tec units and for ever have to call for assistance - David - David Urquhart - posted 28 months ago
As a single 64 year old male, I was having trouble with some decisions at your Fort Kinneard store. I was very relieved when Hannah, from you deco section took me in hand. She remained with me while I fumbled about looking for this and that. I was very gratefull for her assistance and suggestions and she made my shopping trip to B&Q a real pleasure. She made sure I had everything I needed. Thank you Hannah. We could use more "Hannah,s" in some stores. Good luck Hannah. - Ron Goldie - posted 28 months ago

Went to B&Q yesterday store No. tun 480 at Tunbridge Wells. Had extremely good service especially from Dan in the kitchen and bathroom section who put the things we wanted to one side for us to be collected later and Aaron and Jordan on the returns desk. None of them could have been more helpful, they took our goods which were extremely heavy to the car and loaded them up for us and one even asked where we lived so he could help if he was not too far away to unload them from the roof of our car. We are in our mid seventies and this was so kind of them. Unfortunately he did not know our area but it was so kind of him to offer. There are not many youngsters about like this nowadays and we would like you to convey our thanks to them. People are always ready to complain but there are not many thanks given. - Valerie Newitt - posted 23 months ago
